The overall objective of the project proposal is to improve the urban transport system by providing an efficient public transport service in the town of Dupnitsa.
The overall objective will be achieved through the achievement of the following specific objectives (SOs):
SO 1: Positive impact on the environment by reducing air pollution and improving the characteristics of the vehicles used;
SCO 2: Promoting the use of urban transport at the expense of passenger cars by improving transport services and raising quality standards, improving speed and throughput;
SO 3: Promoting multimodal sustainable urban mobility by creating walking opportunities;
SO 4: Reduced travel time for vehicles and passengers without deteriorating traffic conditions;
SO 5: Improving Safety and Navigation.
SO 6: Improving the speed and quality of public transport services, thus encouraging more people to prefer their services to private car transport.
SO 7: Improving the permeability of intersections;
SC 8: Improving accessibility - providing low-floor vehicles for people with disabilities facilitating access to urban transport stops, as well as sounding the vehicles themselves;
The specific objectives of the project proposal are:
- Implementation of an automated system for traffic management and control;
- Implementation of a real-time passenger information system through the introduction of remotely replaceable electronic dashboards;
- Improving accessibility of urban bus stops;
- Developing and improving the public urban transport system by purchasing buses that comply with European regulations on harmful emissions from engines;
- Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the city street network;
- Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the transport infrastructure by updating the base for repair, maintenance and equipment of the rolling stock;
- Construction (reconstruction) and rehabilitation of sidewalks as part of the integrated urban transport system;
- Improving the links between integrated urban transport and intercity bus and rail transport;
- Measures for the introduction of low-floor vehicles suitable for people with disabilities, as well as the sound indication of the vehicles themselves;
- Development of a new destination infrastructure route network providing transport links for the more southern areas of the city to its central and northern parts.
